In 2nd Grade, homework assignments should not exceed 30 minutes. If your child takes more time, you may want to contact me so we can discuss possible reasons and solutions.
Unfinished work is to be completed at home and is not considered “homework.” It is work that was assigned during the school day that your child was not able to finish in the time given.
Thanks to the PTO we have planners to keep the students organized. The planner is a great way to communicate between home and school about homework assigned for the night. Please initial the planner daily indicating that you saw your child’s homework assignment. THE PLANNER MUST come to school every day.
Please check your child’s folder daily. Papers are to be taken out and kept at home unless otherwise noted. “Parent Signature” papers must be signed and returned the following day. THIS FOLDER MUST come to school every day.
If homework is not returned when it is due (usually the next day), he/she can expect to lose recess so that it can be completed. If it is left at home, he/she can still expect to lose recess as it is his/her responsibility to bring it back to school.
When your child is absent, he/she is allowed one week to return made-up assignments.
If your child is out sick and you would like to request homework, please do so first thing in the morning when calling your child in sick. Homework requests need to be made no later than 10:00 a.m. so that work and other materials may be gathered.
If your family is planning an “unscheduled” vacation, please do not request work in advance. Any missed work will be left on your child’s desk, to be completed upon return.
Neatness counts on everything including: classwork, homework, writing, coloring, etc. Neatness is an indicator of pride in one’s work.
When work is completed together in class and is not teacher-corrected, a DT(done together) will be written at the top of the page.
